About the Lake of the Ozarks
About the Lake of the Ozarks Region
After just one stay at our Lake of the Ozarks cabin rental, you'll understand why more than 3 million people vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks each year. The amazing variety of activities at the lake can satisfy any interest - from watersports to tennis, from a relaxing day at the spa to an evening of dancing, from shopping to sunbathing.
The Lake of the Ozarks was built in 1931, and at the time, was the world's largest man-made lake. The Lake took shape after the construction of Bagnell Dam, which began in August of 1929. Four months later, the stock market would crash, plunging the country into the Great Depression. Fortunately for mid-Missouri, the Bagnell Dam project continued to bring prosperity to the region. When completed in 1931, Bagnell Dam created a 57,000-acre lake with 1,375 miles of cove-indentured shoreline. Over the years, this picturesque shoreline has become the home of beautiful homes, resorts, hotels, restaurants, and shops.

Many of the Ozarks vacationers are drawn by the appeal of water sports. To accommodate these guests, area marinas offer a multitude of boats for rent. Boating enthusiasts can rent any type of watercraft at the Lake's marinas - including sail boats, bass boats, speed boats, ski boats, houseboats, and wave runners. The Lake offers a number of quiet coves that are perfect for a refreshing afternoon swim, sunbathing, or trolling for bass. If speed is more your style, the main channel is a great place for kneeboarding, waterskiing, or tubing. Our Lake of the Ozarks cabin rentals have quick access to either the main channel, or the Lake's quiet coves. Click here for more information on Lake of the Ozarks fishing rules and regulations. |
